Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is advising the community not to eat oranges that may wash up on beaches.
The Municipality said it was made aware of a container of oranges that fell into the sea off a vessel a week ago.
Disaster Management chairperson, Shane Brown, said the oranges have since moved towards shore in the Algoa Bay region.
He advised people not to eat these oranges as they’ve been at sea for some time and may not be good for human consumption.
A service provider has been appointed to remove the container.
