Truck carrying catalytic converters hijacked in Gqeberha

A truck carrying a cargo of catalytic converters was hijacked on Monday on the R-75 between Gqeberha and Kariega.
Police spokesperson, Captain Andre' Beetge, says the truck was being escorted by a private security vehicle when the escort vehicle came under fire from the occupants of two gold-coloured bakkies.
He says while they took cover, the truck and its cargo were hijacked near the Kirkwood turn-off.
Beetge says no one was injured but the escort vehicle suffered damage.
The hijacked truck was recovered later, minus its precious cargo.
No arrests have yet been made and the police investigation is still underway.
