Port Elizabeth police have arrested a suspect wanted for three murders committed in Kwadwesi and Motherwell in September.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said he was arrested on Thursday following a car-chase which began in North End near the New Law Courts and ended in New Brighton.
She said the suspect was wanted for the armed robbery of a 39-year-old in the driveway of his friend’s house in Mhlokotshane Street when they were approached by four men in a VW Polo who held them at gunpoint.
They took the keys to the man’s BMW, two cell phones, cash as well as his pistol and the firearm of his friend.
“A 27-year-old suspect was arrested, but released after appearing in court.”
Naidu said he was also wanted for killing Maguda Fezani in Mzwandile Street in Joe Slovo on 22 September.
Two days later, 31-year-old Thembela Puzi was gunned down, also in Joe Slovo after being chased by unknown men.
Naidu said on 28 September police found the body of Sinethemba Nyandini in Motherwell with multiple gunshot wounds.
The suspect will appear in the Motherwell Magistrates’ Court on Monday on three charges of murder.
“He is yet to appear on the armed robbery case,” she said.
