SAPS members perish in EC crash

Two police members were killed in a head-on collision on the N2 between Mthatha and Qumbu on Saturday.

The Eastern Cape Transport Department said the officers were returning from a funeral service of a colleague in Qumbu when the accident occurred.

“The officers died on the scene while the truck driver escaped with minor injuries,” spokesperson, Unathi Binqose said.

He said a  culpable homicide docket has been opened with the Qumbu police.
