Animal lovers across the country are mourning the loss of Oscar, the well-known rescue dog.
Saved from a kennel by owner Joanne Lefson several years ago, Oscar became a global celebrity by championing the cause for stray dogs across the world.
He traveled with Lefson to five continents, 29 countries, stopping off at world landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the Taj Mahal and also made several visit to the Algoa FM studios.
Oscar was reportedly run over by a car in California last Friday.
A flood of messages have been posted on social media sites.
