Eastern Cape Premier, Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane says he is saddened by the passing of the United Democratic Movement's Deputy National Chairperson and Member of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature, Mncedisi Filtane, who died due to Covid-19.
The Speaker in the Provincial Legislature, Helen Sauls-August says Filtane was actively involved in efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus in the province and he contributed to this effort.
The Democratic Alliance in the Eastern Cape has also extended its condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Filtane.
DA-MPL, Bobby Stevenson says he was admitted to hospital on Friday with low oxygen levels.
He says Filtane was a true gentleman and an outspoken member of the Legislature.
Stevenson says he served with dedication and distinction and his presence will be sorely missed both on the opposition benches, and by the whole House.
