The trial of a Port Elizabeth man accused of brutally assaulting his wife is drawing to a close in the magistrate's court.
The state completed its cross examination on Tuesday of 44-year-old Frederick Gordon who is charged with the attempted murder, rape and kidnapping of his wife Avril.
Police rescued her from the couple's flat in Forest Hill two years ago.
Gordon had denied the charges against him and throughout the trial maintained that the crime scene had been manipulated and recreated to satisfy the media.
