Alert Butterworth Traffic Officers have arrested a 21 year old rape suspect at a road block on the N2.
Police captain Jackson Manatha says the suspect is alleged to have raped a 22 year-old woman at knife point at the Magxaki Informal Settlement on Friday afternoon.
The woman's friend had rushed to a nearby garage to ask for assistance and community members then rushed to the scene.
Manatha says the suspect fled in the direction of the road block where he was chased down and arrested by the Butterworth Traffic Officers.
Manatha says the man will appear in the Butterworth magistrate court on Monday on a charge of rape.
