The chief whip of the Nelson Mandela Bay Council, Joy Seale, has gone to meet protesting residents of Jacksonville and Timothy Valley in Port Elizabeth's northern areas.
Residents took to the streets on Tuesday setting up burning barricades in protest over a housing issue.
Its understood that the protest relates to the housing rectification programme and the time it is taking for the programme to be completed.
Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality spokesperson, Kupido Baron, said that the chief whip is being accompanied by senior politicians and officials.
