The Deputy Minister of Tourism Tokozile Xasa will visit schools in the Eastern Cape this week.
Xasa, a former member of the Bhisho legislature, will visit schools in Berlin near King Williams town.
The visit is in line with a Cabinet commitment to visits schools at the start of the school year and comes on the heels of a visit to the Transkei by deputy president, Kgalema Motlanthe.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Alliance has called on teacher's union Sadtu to abandon illegal strike action in the Eastern Cape.
DA MP, Donald Smiles, also called on Basic Education Minister, Angie Motshekga and Eastern Cape education superinentendent-general, Modidima Mannya to deal decisively with any attempts to cause chaos and disruption in schools.
He says he's also disappointed that president Jacob Zuma failed to use the opportunity in East London this weekend to bring Sadtu to heel.
