An awaiting trial prisoner who escaped from the Stutterheim Magistrate's Court this week has been rearrested.
Police spokesperson, Captain Siphokazi Mawisa, said that 27-year-old Buzile Hlungwini was recaptured late last night after police received a tip-off that he was making his way from his home village in Kwazidenge to Phakamisa in King Williams Town.
She says members of the King William's Town Flying Squad, K9 Unit and Stutterheim detectives lay in wait for him and when they spotted the vehicle he was in, they pounced.
Hlungwini escaped from the Stutterheim Magistrate's Court on Wednesday while being taken back to the police holding cells where has been charged with aggravated robbery.
That matter was remanded to the 5 August.
