Bucket-loads of drugs confiscated in Durban bust

Police in Durban have arrested three suspected drug dealers after raiding their premises in Phoenix on Thursday.

Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane says an intelligence-driven operation was conducted and drugs to the value of nearly two million rand were recovered.

Police raided identified premises where drugs were allegedly being manufactured and arrested the suspects after thousands of heroin capsules, mandrax tablets and crack cocaine pieces were found.

Zwane says they confiscated the following:

• Heroin Capsules: 24 096
• Mandrax tablets: 1 068
• Ecstasy pills: 287
• Crack cocaine pieces: 809
• 1.5 kg of heroin powder
• 4 bags of cocaine
• 25 buckets full of capsules
• Heroin packaging equipment
• R59 419.00 in cash.
• Three 2-way radios
• Unlicenced firearm

He says the total value of the drugs is R1 834 879.00

The suspects will appear in the Verulam Magistrates Court soon.
