Tim Omotoso to spend another night behind bars

The Hawks detective who is part of the team investigating the case against Nigerian Pastor, Timothy Omotoso, has revealed that 12 more victims have come forward.

Warrant Officer, Peter Plaatjies, took the witness stand again on Thursday in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court to state why Omotoso should not be granted bail.

During cross examination by State Prosecutor, Nceba Ntelwa, Plaatjies told the court that a total of 13 alleged victims were on the charge sheet with the youngest being 13-years-old when the sexual abuse started.

Plaatjies also told the court that Omotoso, who is facing 22 charges relating to human trafficking and contravening the sexual offences act, should not be granted as he would  intimidate and interfere with witnesses.

He added that members of Omotoso's Jesus Dominion International church had also started threatening the alleged victims.

Plaatjies said the Hawks have been working with the National Prosecuting Authority to place the victims in protective custody.

The bail application is set to continue on Friday morning and Omotoso will spend another night in custody at St Albans Prison.
