Tik worth around R5m seized in Southern Cape bust

Police have arrested a 33-year-old man and seized Tik with an estimated value of R5m during an operation in the Outeniqua Mountains on Thursday.

Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, said members of the Outeniqua K9 unit were acting on a tip-off when they pulled over and searched a Ford Ranger double-cab bakkie.

He said the K9 dog, Tessa, was deployed and reacted positively.

"The members then continued with a thorough investigation of the vehicle and found the Tik that was concealed in black packaging inside the engine bay," Pojie said.

"The drugs are believed to have been destined for dissemination in the Southern Cape."

The suspect is due in court soon.

Pojie said the bust followed the arrest earlier this month of four suspects, including two suspected drug kingpins. in the Conville area of George.
