Three people were wounded in a dramatic shooting incident in Gelvan Park in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday night.
The drama unfolded early in the evening when members of the Operational Command Centre were at the BP garage in the area when they heard gunshots.
Responding, they found two men had been shot and wounded and after calling for back-up, two suspects were spotted running in Du Plessis Street.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Sibongile Soci, says one surrendered while the other, who continued to flee, fired on police, who returned fire, wounding the 21-year-old man who was found in Sauls Street.
A revolver was found nearby.
Soci said the 21-year-old is being detained on four charges of attempted murder, while his 23-year-old alleged accomplice is being held on two charges of attempted murder.
The motive for the initial shooting is not yet known but the case is being investigated by Gelvandale SAPS.
