Police detectives in Port Elizabeth are seeking the community’s assistance in identifying and tracing the next of kin of three people whose bodies were found in separate incidents across the metro at the weekend.

Spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, says in the first incident a security guard was patrolling when he found the body of a coloured man believed to be about 43-years-old laying behind a Bank in Mangold Street in Newton Park just after 7 am on Sunday.

Later, at about 3.30 pm, a group of children, who were playing on a path between Wells Estate and Amsterdamhoek Drive in Swartkops, came across the body of an elderly African man lying on his back.

He is estimated to be about 65-years-old.

Colonel Naidu says a third body, an African male, was found at 7 am on Monday, lying under a tree at the corners of Stanford and September Roads in Gelvandale.

According to residents, the deceased is a well-known vagrant, believed to be between 45 and 60-years-old.

Naidu says inquest dockets were opened for an investigation into all three cases.
