Eastern Cape police have arrested three suspects allegedly involved in a conspiracy to murder a municipal official of the Mhlonto municipal area at Qumbu.
Provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Sibongile Soci says during a meeting with Crime Intelligence, it was decided that two police officials would act as hitmen, and a meeting was set up in the vicinity of Northcrest in Mthatha.
She says a vehicle was spotted and all three occupants, aged between 27 and 29 were arrested and charged for conspiracy to commit murder.
Police confiscated two 9mm pistols and ammunition.
The three men are expected to appear in the Qumbu Magistrate's Court on Monday.
