Three suspectes including Uitenhage traffic cop in court for fraud

 Three people, including a traffic officer, are due to appear in court in Kirkwood on Friday on charges of fraud and corruption.

Police spokesperson, warrant officer Gerda Swart, says they were arrested Thursday following an investigation that was sparked by a tip-off about a roadworthy scam.

She says a 53 year old Kirkwood man and his 49 year old wife were arrested at their home in the town.

Swart says the traffic officer was arrested in Uitenhage late Thursday afternoon.

She says its alleged that the couple would organised roadworthy certificates for vehicles even though they were not in roadworthy condition.
