Three PE men arrested for murder and attempted murder

Port Elizabeth police have arrested three men for murder and attempted murder after a man was shot dead in Greenfields on Saturday.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said that the men, aged between 23 and 32, were arrested in a house on Booysens Park on Saturday after 41-year-old Christopher Jacobs, was killed.

“It is alleged that on Friday, the three suspects went to a house in Greenfields looking for a person. When they did not find the person at the house, two gunshots were fired and they left,” she said.

“The suspects then went to the house of the wanted person and when told by the father that his son is not at home, they allegedly shot the father, Christopher Jacobs(41) in his neck. He died on the scene”.

She said suspects, allegedly affiliated to the “Gavy Boys’ gang, will appear in the Port Elizabeth magistrates’ court on Monday.

Meanwhile, Naidu said that a 23-year-old man was shot and killed in a separate incident in Moeggesukkel in Bethelsdorp Extension 34.

She said the incident is not gang-related.  Naidu said that a suspect arrested separately for being in possession of a firearm was also arrested.

“Police are investigating whether the suspect may be linked to the murder,” she said.
