Three men were shot and killed in Kleinskool in the Northern Areas of Gqeberha on Friday.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says at about 11.45 gunshots were heard and police members from Bethelsdorp responded immediately.
She says at the corners of Main Road and Nirvana Street they found the bodies of a 19-year-old man and a 59-year-old man lying just 50 meters apart.
A third man, whose age is unknown, was gunned down as he tried to run for shelter in a house.
Colonel Naidu says the Anti-Gang Unit saturated the area and suspects were spotted running.
Shots were fired towards police who returned fire, but nobody was wounded.
She says the Unit managed to arrest a 29-year-old suspect who will face three murder charges and one of attempted murder for shooting at police.
Police also found three firearms hidden underneath a broken vehicle.
Colonel Naidu says police are still on the scene of the crime and the names of the victims cannot yet be released.
