Three men have been arrested after shooting and killing a 36-year-old man at a tshisanyama in eMaxesibeni, formerly Mount Ayliff, in the Eastern Cape.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer, Majola Nkohli, says the deceased, Siyabulela Mjokane, was in the company of female friends before the shooting occurred at about 6.30 on Sunday night.
He says one of the suspects had allegedly touched one of the women inappropriately, and when Mjokane attempted to intervene he was fatally wounded.
Nkohli says the men then fled in their vehicle but were apprehended soon after with the help of the community.
The three, aged between 35 and 40, are expected to appear in the town's magistrate's court on Tuesday on a charge of murder and the possession of an unlicensed firearm.
