Three killed in gang violence in PE's Northern Areas

Port Elizabeth police are investigating three murders, attempted murder following separate incidents in the northern areas on Tuesday night.

Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Alwin Labans, says a 31-year-old man was arrested for shooting at a 21-year-old man who managed to escape unharmed.

The man was standing at a shop when he was approached by two men who started shooting. He managed to run away and jumped over a wall to safety.

He says while police were attending to the scene in Bloemendal they heard several gunshots.

Upon further investigation they found the bodies of two men in the yard of a house in the same area.

Labans says they had both been shot in the head and chest.

Police are still searching for the assailants.

Labans says they're also searching for two men who shot and killed a man after breaking into a house in Greenfields in the Booysens Park area in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

He says two men kicked in the door of the house and shot and killed 33-year-old man.

He was busy watching television when he got shot in twice in the chest. He died on the scene.

Labans says the men then ordered the other people in the house to lie on the floor before they took a flat-screen TV and fled in a waiting car.

The hunt for the gunmen is continuing.

In this instance police are investigating a case of murder as well as house robbery.

Labans says all the incidents are gang related.
