Three people from Tsolo in the Eastern Cape have died after their rondawell collapsed under heavy rain.
Spokesperson for the Department of health Sizwe Kupelo says two other people were taken to hospital.
The nearby Malizo Mpehle memorial hospital was operating on skeleton staff on Sunday because people are unable to get to work because of the floods.
Meanwhile the MEC for local government Mlibo Qoboshiyane is visiting Port St Johns on Sunday where hundreds of people were evacuated after heavy rains on Saturday night.
A disaster Management team have been dispatched from Mthatha to help local municipalities in the area.
Residents are currently being housed at the Town hall and were given food and blankets.
Qoboshiyane is currently in a meeting with the disaster management team and local authorities to access the situation.
