Three people were killed in an accident on the N2 near Mthatha in the Eastern Cape in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The provincial Transport Department says a Toyota Corolla with six occupants was traveling from Mthatha towards Qumbu when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it overturned.
Spokesperson, Unathi Binqose says three occupants, including the driver, were declared dead at the scene.
He says two men and a woman sustained serious injuries and were taken to the Nelson Mandela Academic Hospital.
Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
