Three people were killed in an accident on the M4 freeway in Gqeberha early on Saturday morning.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says a VW Polo collided with a stationary truck in the middle lane in the direction of the Mount Road offramp at around 2 am.
She says the truck had experienced mechanical problems.
The VW Polo, which was traveling in the same direction, hit the back of the truck.
Captain Janse van Rensburg says all three occupants of the Polo died at the scene.
The names of the deceased have not been released.
Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
