Three German nationals had a narrow escape on Sunday when the boat they were in capsized in the Gonubie River Mouth in East London.
NSRI station commander, Geoff McGreggor, says life-guards swam out to where the group was stranded on rocks along with the small boat.
They were assisted back to shore.
Later it was reported that one of the men had been swept out towards the Gonubie River Mouth by currents, while trying to swim across the river.
It's suspected that he went back to recover belongings from the stranded boat.
