Three men are in police custody following their arrest in the early hours of Tuesday morning on the R75.
Spokesperson Sergeant Majola Nkohli says police were patrolling the R75 near Uitenhage when they spotted a red Mazda at 3.45 am.
He says police stopped the vehicle to find out why they were travelling outside the Level 4 lockdown curfew period which falls between 5 am-8 pm.
The occupants told police that they were headed towards Kirkwood but had no valid reason for travelling during that time.
Sergeant Nkohli says their vehicle was searched and two bags of dagga weighing 50 kg were discovered in the boot.
The value of the dagga is estimated to be R150 000.
The suspects aged between 28 and 54 were arrested for the possession of drugs and contravening the Disaster Management Act and will appear in the Uitenhage Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
