Thousands of residents from the Buffalo City Metro (BCM) have been left without power following a service delivery protest in King Williams Town in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Eskom’s Regional spokesperson Zama Mpondwana told Algoa FM News that their Fort Murray Substation near the Phakamisa Township was vandalised by protesters.
He says they are unable to send technicians as the situation is still volatile.
The Metro says several pump stations are also off due to the substation being set alight which is affecting the water supply in surrounding areas.
