Thousands of police members will descend on Nelson Mandela Bay later this month for the annual police musicealfestival known as Polmusca.
An estimated 5 000 SAPS members are expected to attend the Polmusca Unity Festival which takes place from the 17th of September.
Police Minister, Nkosinathi Nhleko is expected to deliver the keynote address at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, while the spokesperson for the embattled Police Commissioner, Rhia Phiyega, would only say that she normally attends these events.
Polmusca organising committee chairperson, Captain Jackson Manatha, says the main music event will take place at NMMU's Missionvale campus on the 18th.
He says during the three-day event, festival crime initiatives will be implemented at identified schools and communities in Nelson Mandela Bay.
"We want to close the gap between us as the police and the community. The Minister, his deputies and the General will also be part of this competition. There will also be some crime prevention initiatives that we are going to do. Nelson Mandela Bay police have identified some schools in certain areas whereby we are going to go and address the students and members of the community" he said.
