Nelson Mandela Bay's five main supply dams are all overflowing following weeks of good rains in the catchment areas.
Figures from the Department of Water Affairs, which are updated on their website as often as four times an hour, show that the Impofu-dam on the Kromme River began overflowing at about half past nine on Wednesday night.
The Impofu was at 102.42% of capacity earlier today, which means in layman's terms that it is already overflowing quite strongly.
Before the heavy rains of the past four days, the Impofu was the only one of the Metro's main supply dams that wasn't full.
Just a week ago, the Impofu was only moderately full at 69% of capacity.
