Police destroyed some 18-thousand fake CDs at Butterworth on Friday morning.
Spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha, says the fake CDs were taken from people who had been copying the music and selling it in the streets of Butterworth.
Most of the copied music was local gospel.
The initiative was a result of a public outcry from the music industry that police were not assisting in their endeavours to fight piracy.
