Eskom in the Eastern Cape says it has restored power to over 80 000 customers left in the dark due to severe storms over parts of the province this weekend.
The power utility said technicians are still working around the clock to restore power to the remaining 20-thousand- 200 customers also affected.
Eskom has appealed to customers to be patient at this time and to treat all electrical appliances as live as electricity supply may be restored at any time.
Meanwhile, the storm caused a power outage in Mthatha that nearly started a fire at the OR Tambo District Municipality's call centre and billing section.
