Thirteen-year-old among those arrested for murder of Jansenville farmer

Eastern Cape police have confirmed that one of the five suspects arrested near Knysna for the murder of Jansenville farmer Owen Charles is just 13 years old.

Police spokesperson, Major Ernest Sigobe, says five young suspects aged between 13 and 22 were arrested on Monday night.

He says the bakkie they allegedly stole from the farm, crashed into a ditch near Knysna.

Three of the suspects, including a 22 year-old woman, were seriously injured and are under police guard in the Knysna hospital.

The other two are in the police holding cells at Knysna.

Sigobe says a 6th suspect, also aged 22, is still at large.

Charles was stabbed to death when he was attacked by five men on his farm, Armadale, outside Jansenville on Sunday evening.

His wife Janet was stabbed and beaten unconcious.

She is being treated in hospital in Port Elizabeth.
