Eastern Cape police are investigating the daring burglary of the hotel room of Water and Sanitation Minister, Nomvula Mokonyane.
She was in Mthatha this weekend when brazen burglars broke into her room while she slept and stole a handbag, cellphones and tablet, among other items.
In two messages on Twitter, the Department said that “a case of burglary and theft has been opened with the Mthatha Central Police Station and the matter is now under investigation.”
The Department said the Minister was unharmed.
It said it appeared that the burglars had forced open a window leading to the Minister’s room.
