Jeffreys Bay police say they are concerned about the alarming increase in theft out of motor vehicles in the area, and want to send a warning to the public to be alert when locking their vehicles.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Gerda Swart says a number of incidents have been reported regarding the use of gate remote controls as jamming devices to gain access to vehicles.
She says the thieves are using remote control devices to override the vehicle's security system, thus enabling them to gain access to it.
Swart says the tendency is growing, especially at shopping centres and malls.
