The new mayoral committee announced for Nelson Mandela Bay

Nelson Mandela Bay executive mayor, Athol Trollip, says his newly appointed mayoral team represents all the voters of Nelson Mandela Bay.Trollip introduced his team at a media briefing in Uitenhage on Wednesday morning.He says the team of highly skilled councillors include members of their coalition partners who now former part the DA-led multi-party government in Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality."This team, I believe, will be able to equip themselves of their responsibilities and the fashion that will bring change to people's lives. That was our manifesto essence in a nutshell that we will bring change and I believe that this group of people not only represent the communities, but they understand the challenges in the communities. They have been an integral part of this campaign and have been members of this party for a long time, also members of the other participating parties, their parties have seen fit to entrust them with these positions of leadership"
The Mayoral team is as follows: Councillor Retief Odendaal - Budget and Treasury Councillor Mongameli Bobani -Public Health Councillor Annette Lovemore -Infrastructure and Engineering Councillor Rano Kayser - Roads and Transport Councillor Andrew Whitfield - Economic Development, Tourism and Agriculture Councillor Siyasanga Sijadu - Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture Councillor Dean Biddulph - Corporate Services Councillor Shirley Sauls - Constituency Services Councillor John Best - Safety and Security
Councillor Nqaba Bhanga - Human Settlements Councillor Lance Grootboom - Municipal Public Accounts (his position has to be proposed in Council and then elected)
Meanwhile, the ANC has announced that former mayor, Danny Jordaan, will be the leader of the opposition in Council.The deputy leader is Biks Ndoni, who was Jordaan's deputy mayor before the ANC lost Nelson Mandela Bay to the DA-led coalition. The ANC's whip in Council is Litho Suka, Secretary-Buyelwa Mafaya, Convener of Political Committee-Andile Lungisa.

At media briefing a short while ago, the ANC in Nelson Mandela said it admits that it is now the official opposition in Council and is gearing itself to assume that responsibility.
