The Hawks in the Eastern Cape pounced on the offices of the Inxuba Yethemba local Municipality in Cradock on Tuesday to secure documents that are linked to tender fraud.
Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Philani Nkwalase says they are investigating tender fraud to the value of R26 million.
He says it is alleged that several companies were awarded tenders for road construction, maintenance projects and to design a community hall.
Nkwalase says these tenders were allegedly paid in full but the work was only partially rendered.
The alleged fraud took place in the 2017/2018 financial year.
Police have not yet arrested anybody and the investigation continues.
