A ten-year-old boy from Mqanduli in the Eastern Cape is expected to appear in court on Thursday for the rape of a seven year old girl.
Police spokesperson, major Zama-kulungisa Jozana, says the alleged incident occurred on Saturday in an administrative area in the Togwana Locality in Mqanduli.
He says the child's mother had left the girl with a friend while she visited a neighbour and on her return noticed that the child was limping.
It was later established that she had been raped.
Meanwhile A 21-year-old woman has been arrested in Nqamakwe in the former Transkei on a charge of concealment of birth.
Police said she was arrested after police received a tip-off that she had thrown the newborn child into a pit toilet.
