Port Elizabeth police have opened an inquest docket after a two year old boy died after stepping on an illegal electricity connection.
Police spokesperson, captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, says the incident happened in the Riemvasmaak informal settlement in Bethelsdorp.
She says boy was playing with friends in the street on Tuesday morning when stepped on the illegal power connection.
Janse van Rensburg says he was rushed to Dora Nginza hospital where he died.
