Police in George are on the lookout for at least 10 suspects who robbed a family in their house in the upmarket Blue Mountain Village during the early hours of Friday morning.
Police Spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies says the 41-year-old father woke up at 2.30 am when ten men entered his room.
He says at least one of the suspects had a firearm and threatened the man, demanding money, phones and jewellery.
The homeowner was stabbed with a screwdriver in his hand before the suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
It is alleged that the victim goes home at night with the daily takings from his business.
