Gqeberha police are investigating yet another home invasion in Theescombe where a mother was shot at and her young daughter threatened with a firearm.
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says the 51-year-old woman was asleep at her house in Quarry Lane on Saturday when three men entered the house through a sliding door at 9.40 pm.
She says the 12-year-old girl was watching TV in the lounge and was threatened with a firearm and ordered to keep quiet.
When two of the men entered her mother's bedroom the child saw an opportunity to activate the panic button and run away.
Captain Janse van Rensburg says they woke up the mother and demanded money and her earrings.
When she refused, a shot was fired grazing her head.
Captain Janse van Rensburg says the complainant then handed over her earrings and ran away.
The suspects fled with a laptop, cell phone, car keys vehicles, earrings and a laptop bag containing personnel documents.
A case of house robbery is currently under investigation.
Nelson Mandela Bay police have issued an advisory to residents living on smallholdings to be extra vigilant following a spate of home invasions this month.
This is the third robbery of late in the Theescombe area and the second where shots were fired.
Last Saturday a family was also targeted by brazen robbers wearing balaclavas who fired a shot shattering a sliding door.
The family was ordered to lie on the floor before they too were tied up and their house ransacked.
The men stole a .38 revolver and valuable jewellery made from precious stones.
No arrests have been made in any of these home invasions.
Police can not yet confirm that it is the same suspects as investigations are ongoing.
