Eastern Cape Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Gen Liziwe Ntshinga has condemned an attack on five defenceless family members in Bethelsdorp, in which a 13-year old boy was killed.
Provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Sibongile Soci says the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit has started to follow leads, after an unknown man entered the yard through the front gate, and started shooting at the house in Barberry Drive through an open door on Saturday afternoon.
The boy sustained multiple gunshots wounds and died at the scene.
Three other people, aged between 11 and 26, also sustained gunshot wounds, while a 19-year old escaped unharmed.
The suspect fled the scene, and the motive for the shooting is unknown.
Police are investigating a case of murder and four cases of attempted murder.
