A teenager who went on a fatal shooting spree in Nxuba, formerly Cradock has been arrested.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli says police responded to a murder scene on a farm on Wednesday afternoon where they found the body of 39-year-old Eva Smith, with a gunshot wound to her upper body.
He says police followed up on leads and a manhunt was launched.
Nkohli says the following day police received a complaint about a shooting on the N10 towards Middleburg where they found a truck driver who was shot and wounded in the upper body.
He says police soon connected the shooting on the N10 to the murder of Eva Smith.
He says police worked around the clock with the assistance of community groups and private security companies who volunteered their services in the hunt for the suspect.
Nkohli says on Friday, tracker dogs cornered the suspect in a water slope about 20km outside Nxuba.
A stolen firearm and the keys to the truck were found in his possession.
The 19-year-old suspect will appear in the Cradock Magistrates Court on Monday on a charge of murder, attempted murder, possession of a stolen firearm and ammunition as well as an additional charge of theft.
The motive for the shootings is unknown.
