A taxi driver and innocent bystander were rushed to hospital on Thursday following a shooting incident at the Uitenhage Taxi rank.
Police Spokesperson Sergeant Majola Nkohli says it is alleged that five men were having an argument with a taxi driver when one man pulled out a firearm.
The taxi driver tried to run away but was shot twice and fell to the ground.
Nkohli says a bystander who was also trying to flee sustained two gunshot wounds but managed to run into the nearest supermarket at the nearby mall.
By this time police were notified and the suspects fled in different directions.
Ten minutes after the shooting police noticed a suspect running in Caledon street, opposite the Magistrate's court.
They searched the 18-year-old teenager and found an unlicensed firearm in his possession.
Nkohli says at this point they still do not know what the argument was about, which lead to the shooting.
The suspect will appear in the Uitenhage magistrates court on Friday where he will be charged with attempted murder and the unlawful possession of a firearm.
