A Police constable attached to the flying squad in the Eastern Cape arrested a stock theft suspect in a river just outside of Bhisho.
Police Spokesperson Captain Siphokazi Mawisa says his squad received information about a slaughtered cow at Yellow Wood Farm outside King Williams Town and went to investigate.
On the farm, they arrested four men between the ages of 23 and 38 and three juveniles between the ages of 8 and 11.
She says the children were handed to social workers.
It is alleged that the adults slaughtered the cow on Monday and took some of the meat with them, they then sent the children the next day to collect the rest.
Mawisa says when officers arrived on the farm one of the suspects fled on foot and Constable Lulama Mhloma chased him right into the river where he was arrested.
The Four adults will appear in the King Williams Town Magistrates court soon.
