An Eastern Cape teacher accused of killing a traffic officer will remain behind bars until he applies for bail next week.
Thirty-four-year-old Siphesonke Galoshe, who is an educator at Tutor Ndamase Senior Secondary School briefly appeared in the Mthatha Magistrates Court on Monday.
A spokesperson for the Hawks Captain Yolisa Mgolodela says it is alleged that on the 10th of October the victim, 61-year-old Daniel Mxoli, issued a fine to Galoshe for contravening traffic rules.
She says when Mxoli turned away from Galoshe he grabbed his rifle and shot the officer in the back.
The officer, attached to the King Sabata Dalinyebo Local Municipality in Mthatha, died on the scene.
Captain Mgolodela says Galoshe allegedly fled to his sister's house in Gqeberha where she forced him to hand himself over.
