The Vicki Terblance murder case has taken another dramatic twist with her estranged husband - and alleged killer - Arnold Terblanche claiming she was the abuser in their relationship and that she had been plotting for him to be "taken out".
In his 56-page replying affidavit, as he continues to relentlessly battle to be granted bail based on new facts, Terblanche makes startling allegations about how Vicki started to plan his demise.
They were on the brink of divorce and Vicki was murdered a day before she was meant to go to court for those divorce proceedings in October 2021.
While the state has no issue with the fact that Vicki was taking drugs days prior to her death, it maintains that Terblanche, in cahoots with his two accused, had her killed.
Arnold Terblanche has furnished the court with a series of Whatsapp messages between his current girlfriend Krystall Wiggill and a man who presented himself as a policeman.
According to Arnold, this policeman whose name is known to Algoa FM News approached him with the intention of proving his innocence.
A statement from Arnold's son-in-law was also added to the answering affidavit.
In this statement, Ruan Nell confirms meeting this man who asked for R20 000 upfront to start his investigation.
The State revealed that Terblanche was so desperate for freedom that he wanted to convince his co-accused, Dyllan Cullis, to retract his statement and furnish the State with a new version that would exonerate him in the murder of his estranged wife.
Cullis has since turned state's witness.
According to the charge sheet, Terblanche also wanted to bribe officials to circumvent the provisions pertaining to his bail, in order to get bail, wanted an opportunity to influence the appointment of two Judges who would hear his bail application in the High Court, have Kanna Swanepoel removed as lead investigator in the matter, and to be warned of future raids and lastly to have his co-accused murdered.
For all of these requests money was paid over, however, in his answering affidavit, Terblanche offered explanations for the monies he authorised his adult daughter to pay.
He's also submitted affidavits - one of which is from a man who was apparently approached by Vicki and her then-boyfriend, Reinardt Leach.
In his affidavit, the man, known as Christiaan Meyer, states that Vicki and Leach wanted Terblanche dead and that they also wanted him to refer them to someone who could do the deed.
He said that a hit on Arnold would cost them R200 000.00 and according to him, Leach said that he could afford half of that as a deposit and the rest once Arnold had been taken out.
Meyer recalls Vicki explaining to him that she was involved in divorce proceedings with Terblanche and that she would get nothing if they split.
