The 27-year-old woman who was stabbed to death at her office in Mossel Bay on Monday has been identified as Kirsty James.
James worked at NDK Valuers in Spring Street and was attacked by a 32-year-old woman at around 3.30 pm.
According to the family of the deceased, James and the suspect were close friends.
Warrant Officer Pieter Koekemoer says James was stabbed multiple times and that the blade of the knife broke off in her body during the attack.
She died on the way to hospital.
The suspect sustained a cut to her hand during the attack and is currently under police guard in a hospital.
She will make her first court appearance in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court on Thursday on a charge of murder.
James had a daughter who is about to turn three years old.
The motive for the murder is still not known.
