Tensions remain high in the East London CBD where police said a group of taxi operators attacked their rivals at the city centre taxi rank.
Police Spokesperson Colonel Sibongile Soci said a group of unknown taxi operators, suspected to be members Boarder Alliance Taxi Association, damaged vehicles suspected to be belonging to Uncedo Taxi Association at Caxton Street East London.
Two vehicles were reportedly damaged in the process.
Locals took to social media saying that they heard gunshots and ran for their lives, police, however, said no immediate reports were received of any shots fired or people being wounded.
Police said only an elderly lady was injured when she fell whilst running away from the chaotic situation.
Soci said the situation is tense and is being monitored by Law enforcement, BCm traffic, VISPOL, the TRT and the Flying squad.
