A case of Stock Theft was registered at the Odendaalsrus police station on Wednesday.
Two officers from the Stock Theft Unit followed up on leads and went to a farm called Lotgeval where they found one of their own members sitting in a Mahindra 4x4 with a trailer with 12 sheep.
Police Spokesperson Brigadier Makhele said two more sheep were on the back of his bakkie with their legs fastened.
The Captain could not provide the necessary documents and the complainant positively identified the sheep as his own.
